As other devices, Canvas 5 also has its own pros and cons. So, without much further ado, let’s check out what features and specifications have been offered to the users by Micromax Canvas 5.

Micromax Canvas 5 Cost, Features, and Specifications

The Micromax Canvas E481 is a slim and light-weight smartphone with dimensions 148.00 x 73.60 x 4.80 mm and weighing just 143 grams.

Canvas 5 E481 has a sturdy design with metallic side panels and the removable textured plastic back panel which feels great while holding in hands due to its rubberized finishing.  The Canvas 5 sports a 5.2-inch display. At the right side, we’ve got the volume and power buttons. At the top, there is micro-USB port and headphone jack as usual.

On the rear, there is 13MP camera sensor with LED flashlight and stripping the back panel we have access to Dual SIM slots and a Micro SD card slot, a 3000mAh battery which isn’t removable. On the front 5.5-inches display, usual set of sensors, front camera, and LED notification button.

Overall, the Micromax Canvas 5 is a well built, average looking light-weight and slim smartphone and has easy to use interface. The device is available in two colors – black and golden. Both of them are attractive.

Micromax Canvas 5 sports a 5.20-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which is considered to be handy and acceptable size as the complete handset is within the reach of the thumb without moving your hand on the device. It has a full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with a 2.5D curve and Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. With a pixel density of 423 PPI, the display is clear and bright even when looked at from different viewing angles.

The display has got just enough brightness for bright outdoors, but it is quite reflective.

Hardware Configuration and Performance

The Micromax Canvas 5 is powered by MediaTek MT6753 Soc with a 1.3 GHz Octa-Core processor coupled with Mali T720 GPU. There is 3GB of Ram and 16GB internal storage with an SD card slot for memory expansion up to 64GB, so we guess storage issue can be ruled out as we have ample amount of storage on board.

Canvas 5 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with minor changes in default apps and user interface. The absence of custom UI makes the handset clean and bloat-free. The interface feels quite smooth and there is not much lag. The device is also planned to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Going by the internal specs, the device will perform exceptionally well in day to day usage and multitasking on the phone should be a breeze with 3GB of Ram.

Connectivity features include 4G LTE/ 3G HSPA+, Dual SIM with dual Standby. The 4G SIM slot allows you to insert a 4G SIM and access the 4G network. Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n are built-in.

Camera and Features

Canvas 5 features a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with phase detection autofocus technology and two LED flashlights in the back panel. The rear camera also comes with 5P lens and can capture panorama shots in 4X zoom.

While primary camera did a decent job in daylight, images captured in the low light were not that impressive. While the colors were not that accurate in daylight images, the Canvas 5’s camera is likely to satisfy most users at this price level. Other features offered with the camera are Panorama, Night, Professional, Dual View, Face Beauty and Sports. The interface is like that of many other handsets we’ve seen. The screen has controls for all the modes including the flash and front-facing camera on one side, while the video mode, shutter button and a shortcut to the gallery are on the other.

The front-facing 5-megapixel shooter was satisfying enough and able to capture videos in HD resolution.

The device is packed with 2900 mAh Lithium-ion battery providing you a decent battery backup. On normal usage, you can expect a battery backup of 10-12 hours whereas on heavy usage Canvas 5 is supposed to give 3-4 hours of backup.

Overall, Micromax Canvas 5 is a great device with sturdy design, 5.2 inches full-HD display, 3 GB RAM, 13 MP and 5 MP cameras and 2900 mAh which provides an overall decent performance. If you’re willing to buy smartphone under Rs. 15,000, Canvas 5 is a good choice.
